Facefit Testing
Qualitative Facefit Testing By Fit2Fit Trained Engineers
Compliance Requirements
Supports compliance with workplace respiratory protection requirements.
Wearer Understanding
Ensures the user understands correct fitting and usage procedures.

Why is Facefit testing Important?
Respiratory protective equipment (RPE) can only provide effective protection if it fits the person correctly. Poor fitting masks may allow hazardous dusts, fumes, vapours, or airborne particles to bypass the seal and be inhaled by the wearer. Face fit testing helps identify unsuitable masks and improves wearer protection from workplace exposure.

Employers have a legal obligation under COSHH regulation 2002 to ensure that any RPE used as a control measure must be suitable and effective through regular testing.
What's Included in Your Facefit Report
Following testing, you will receive clear documentation confirming the test method used, the mask tested, and whether a suitable fit was achieved.

Legally, face fit testing is a requirement of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations, the Control of Lead at Work Regulations and the Control of Asbestos Regulations.
Pass or fail result clear confirmation of the fit test outcome
Guidance if alternative respiratory equipment or further action is required
Details of the quantitative test carried out
Documentation of the competent person completing the test
Employee responsibilities
in the UK
In the UK, Facefit testing supports compliance with:

-
Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
-
COSHH Regulations
-
HSE Guidance on Respiratory Protective Equipment at Work (HSG53)

Facefit testing should be repeated if there are changes to the wearer’s face shape, significant weight change or if a different type of mask is introduced.

What Does Facefit Testing Check?
During a face fit test, several key factors are assessed to confirm the mask or respirator fits correctly and provides an effective seal.
Face Seal
Checks that the mask forms an effective seal around the face.
Mask Compatibility
Confirms the selected mask is suitable for the wearer.
Fit and Comfort
Assesses overall fit, positioning & wearer comfort.
Air Leakage
Identifies any leakage around the mask seal during use.
Trusted Accreditations & Certifications
We meet recognised industry standards and accreditations providing assurance of quality, compliance and dependable service.

RPE Facefit Testing
All engineers at Aircheck are Fit2Fit qualified and competent to carry out qualitative Face Fit Testing at your workplace.

This qualitative method is based on a series of exercises whilst wearing the RPE and confirms that a tight seal is effective. Normal breathing, deep breathing, head side to side, head up and down, taking out loud, bending over and bench test all forms part of the test.
Once completed and a pass result is confirmed, a certificate is provided which must be kept on record for at least 5 years.
Before the test, Aircheck will send out an information pack which explains what will happen on the day of the test and support any needs prior the face fit testing.
